During the turbulent era, the role and the mission of the GNDI, as a regional think tank which undertakes to forecast the social changes and to provide its strategies, has become more important than ever before. An introduction of the local autonomy since 1995 became a historic opportunity to an advancement of democracy with an achievement of a rapid economic development.

Since then, the locality becomes the great power of leading a social development with the nation, which is the great achievement of our national long-cherished desire after the Independence. And also, it is called an advancement of history by Toynbee.

On the other hand, an advancement of globalization with localization is not much smooth, unlike our expectation. Recently, the severe crisis of world economy caused by an unlimited competition makes our daily life in difficulties. However, it can be a chance for the take-off. It is time to mobilize and concentrate the potentials of provincial government for improving people's life. Therefore, it is our duty to support the local government and further, to provide a vision for the future.

The GNDI will give an impetus to Gyeongnam's continuous prosperity and national development through creative research, practical policy and scientific analysis required by the needs of the times. We look forward to working with you to make Gyeongnam a best and productive province to live.
